General rules of taking JPT exam
Instructions |
1. Bring your original personal card, e.g.ID card or passport on the exam day
***cannot use the copy***

2. Turn off alarms and all other settings of such devices and turn off cellular phones and other electronic devices (e.g. audio player, PC, video game console,
electronic dictionary, electronic organizer) in the test room. |
3. Smoking is not allowed around the examination venue. |
4. No food or drinks are allowed in the testing room. |
5. It’s not allowed to chew gum or eat candy while taking the exam. |
6. Wear an analog wristwatch. A digital watch is not allowed. |
7. Do not disturb other test takers. |
8. You cannot postpone the exam date once you have applied. |
9. Test takers who do not bring their cards will not be allowed to take the test. |
10. Entrancing to the examination venue is limited to those who completed the prescribed application procedure. |
11. If you fail to follow the instructions of the proctor or engage in any of the prohibited acts, you will fail the exam (we will not calculate your score),
and you will get disqualified from taking the JPT Test for 2 years. |
General Notes on Taking the Test |
1. Leave your card on the left corner of the table. |
2. Select one of four choices and mark your answer. |
3. It is not allowed to use the toilet during the test. If a test taker gets sudden urges to go to the restroom, a proctor of the matching gender needs to escort him or her. |
4. Leave your hands from the PC when the time’s up. |
5. It is not allowed to leave the room until the test is over. |
The following actions are prohibited at the test centers |
If you fail to follow any of the directions below, your scores won't be counted, and you will get disqualified for taking the exam. |
1. All acts that can be considered photography, video recording, audio recording, and copying. |
2. Bringing cheat sheets into the testing room or writing texts or notes on any area of skin on your body. |
3. Reproduction of test question content by any means in whole or in part (not limited to Japanese) in a state available for browsing
or listening by the general public via Internet, TV, radio, e-mail, documents, lectures or any other possible means. |
4. Publish the contents of the exam on the internet or via applications (Line, WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, etc.) |
5. Acts of offering or receiving assistance during the test
Cheating or giving answers to other test takers.
Taking the test in place of a registered test taker.
Taking the test fraudulently and any other acts that are considered dishonest.

6. Using a mobile phone for cheating on the exam.
Keeping a mobile phone with yourself during the test.
Receiving or sending text messages in or outside the examination venue during the test.
Taking a photo of test contents.
Taking a picture of your answers or others' answers.

7. Acts of taking the test over the designated testing time.
Looking through test content before the test starts or answering questions after the test finishes.

8. Not following the proctor’s instructions |
9. Not verifying your identity to the proctors or not allowed them to check your belongings in case of taking the test fraudulently. |
10. Acts of sabotage (acts of violence, damage to property…etc.,) |
Responses to violations |
1. If you engage in any of the prohibited acts as above, or if any question arises about the validity of your answers, the following measures may be result:
Warning from the proctor
Dismissal from the test site during the test and considered cheating on a test.
Check of belongings.
Your test answers will be unchecked.
Cancellation of test scores.
Disqualification from taking the test for 2 years.
Test takers who take the test fraudulently have to write a behavior report before leaving the examination venue.
Reporting to the police in case of taking the test in place of a registered test taker.

2. Proctors may walk around the testing room to maintain an appropriate test environment and to check if any prohibited acts occur. |
Cancellation or Discontinuation of Test |
We may cancel or discontinue the test if some events outside
(e.g., natural disasters, strike, an outbreak of infectious disease)
cause difficulty in maintaining security in the test center. If we cannot continue the test,
we will carry forward to the next public test. Test takers who do not want to take a make-up exam can request a full refund.
We are not liable for any inconvenience,
personal losses (except test fee) caused by test-takers' postponement.
